The 5-pose foundation

Five poses that flatter absolutely everyone.

Five poses that flatter everyone

You don't need fifty poses. You need five reliable foundations you can adapt to any body, couple or family, then vary with small tweaks. Master these and you'll never freeze up.

The foundations

  1. The lean. Weight on the back foot, front knee soft, a slight lean toward camera. Instantly slims and adds a relaxed line. Works standing against a wall, a doorframe, or nothing at all.
  2. The walk. Have them walk toward or across you, talking or laughing. Movement kills stiffness and gives you ten frames of natural body language from one prompt.
  3. The close connection. Foreheads together, eyes closed or looking down — for couples and families. It reads as intimacy and hides self-conscious expressions.
  4. The seated relax. Sitting on steps, a wall, the floor. Elbows on knees, hands loose. Lowering people relaxes them and gives you flattering downward angles.
  5. The over-the-shoulder. Body angled away, face turning back to camera. Classic, slimming, flattering on almost everyone.

The principle underneath

Angles, not front-on. Turn the body ~45° from camera; front-on widens everyone. Create space at the joints — a gap between arm and torso reads slimmer than an arm mashed flat.

Field takeaway: learn five, vary each with weight, hands and angle, and you have an endless, confident posing vocabulary.
