Why we started LensQuay

Jason & Rob Ā· 16 Jul 2026

LensQuay started with a simple frustration: running a photography business takes far too many tools.

One subscription for a portfolio site. Another to host client galleries. A spreadsheet for customer details. An app for invoices. A separate email tool for the Christmas promo. Five logins, five bills, and none of them talking to each other.

Between us we had both sides of the problem. One of us shoots for a living and lives that admin every week. The other builds software. So we asked a straightforward question: what if a photographer could run the whole thing — portfolio, bookings, galleries, clients, payments and print — from one place?

What we wanted it to feel like

We didn't want another bloated tool. We wanted the boring stuff to disappear so photographers could get back to shooting. That means:

  • Deliver a shoot as a gallery in minutes, not fight with an upload tool.
  • Let clients choose their favourites so you only edit what they actually want.
  • Keep your originals safe until you're paid.
  • Have your customer list build itself, ready for when you want to reach out.

Where we are now

We're building LensQuay in the open, shipping improvements almost every day — often the same day a photographer tells us something is awkward. That feedback loop is the whole point. If you're a photographer and something annoys you, tell us; there's a good chance it'll be fixed within the week.

We're genuinely glad we started this. Thanks for being here early.
