The photographers of LensQuay — come and see their work

We changed our home page this week. It used to be built on stock photography, which, for a site whose entire purpose is the photographers on it, was a strange choice.

Every photograph on lensquay.com now comes from someone who actually uses the platform, credited, linking to their profile. Go and look, then come and meet the people behind it.

If you have seen the home page, you have seen this work. Deep shadow, cinematic light, rich metallic tones — Baroque-inspired chiaroscuro applied to modern portraiture.

In their own words, the aim is to turn every subject into something timeless. It is the most distinctive style on the site and it is genuinely striking at full size. Available for commissions, editorial collaborations and test shoots.

PhotobyRok — High Wycombe

"Your photographer in High Wycombe — just me and my camera."

Rob shoots weddings, families, graduations and Christmas mini-sessions, and he is the most active photographer on LensQuay by a distance. He is also, fairly, our harshest critic: a good deal of what the platform can do this month exists because he used it on a real job, found the rough edge, and told us about it the same evening.

If you are in Buckinghamshire and you want someone who turns up, knows the area and delivers properly, he is your man.

London-based, with a clean editorial eye. Max joined at the start of September and his work went straight onto our front page — the wide shot at the top of this post is his.

This is what we are building

Twenty-eight accounts. Not a large number, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. But every one of them is a real photographer or model doing real work, and that is worth more to us right now than a big number of empty profiles.

The people here at this stage shape what LensQuay becomes. Two features shipped this month came from a single member pressing the Help button and telling us what was missing — folders inside galleries came from one message, and paid bookings with a deposit came from another.
