Meet the models of LensQuay

Every new platform has a chicken-and-egg problem. Photographers will not join until there are models, and models will not join until there are photographers. Somebody has to go first, on nothing but a good feeling about it.

Five women did. We think that deserves more than a line in a database, so here they are.

Angela Const — The Netherlands

Angela has been modelling professionally for over ten years, across everything from fashion to fine art nude. She is one of the most experienced people on LensQuay, and she joined when the site had barely any members at all.

Ten years in this industry teaches you what a good shoot looks like and what a wasted afternoon looks like. If you are a photographer planning something ambitious, that experience is worth a great deal — she will have seen the idea before, and she will know whether it works.

Bethany — Hidden Embers, Yeovil, Somerset

Bethany is back in front of the camera after a nine-year break, modelling as Hidden Embers, with a focus on confidence, body positivity and visual storytelling.

Her profile is, quietly, the best-written one on the whole site. She sets out exactly what she shoots, exactly what she does not, and how she works, including that a chaperone attends her shoots. Nothing is left for a photographer to guess at.

That is not a small thing. Clear boundaries stated up front are what make a set feel safe and professional for everyone in the room, and we wish more profiles read like hers. Photographers, take note of what good looks like.

Francesca — London

Francesca is 43 and has just started modelling. In her own words, she has finally found the courage to chase something she has wanted her whole life. Better late than never, as she puts it.

She is not a beginner in any way that matters, though. She has a background in choreography and theatre, which means she knows how to hold a pose, shift a mood, and carry a character — the exact skills most new models spend years learning. She is petite, has TFP experience, and is open to collaboration.

If you are shooting anything involving movement, dance or narrative, she is an obvious first call.

Kate

Kate works across fashion, portrait and outdoor, and is one of our verified models. Verification on LensQuay means we have confirmed the person is who they say they are, which matters more in this industry than in most.

Karolina Nowicka — Ipswich

Karolina is Ipswich-based, verified, and works in fashion, portrait and fitness. She was one of the very first models to join LensQuay at all — she signed up in July, when there was almost nothing here to look at.

Why this matters to photographers

Casting is the slowest part of planning a shoot. You post somewhere, you get thirty replies that are not right, you chase the two that are, and one of them stops answering.

Every model here has a public profile with their styles, their location, their experience and their actual work on it. You can see what they do before you write a single message. There is no commission, no agency in the middle, and no fee for getting in touch.
